The man Bill Graham called "The Music Business's Best Kept Secret," who taught Joni Mitchell her early guitar skills, also gave George Harrison of the Beatles his first sitar lessons, the man who wrote the music for Donovan's "Season of the Witch" and played with many of the world's greatest musicians, including Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. He produced 27 albums and is known worldwide for his refusal to bow to commercialism in the music industry.
He did what many singer-songwriters don't: continue to evolve his creative skills during his live performances.
